Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha has stolen plenty of headlines this season as the most precocious young talent at the club.Ngumoha has burst onto the scene in a manner many expected he would after signing from Chelsea in 2024.However, the 17-year-old is not the only Liverpool academy winger supporters should be aware of during this campaign. Two years Ngumoha’s senior, Trent Kone-Doherty has steadily been making a name for himself since arriving at Liverpool from Derry City in 2022.Kone-Doherty made his senior debut last January, coming off the bench to play in the disappointing defeat against Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup last season. The 19-year-old is clearly on Arne Slot’s radar as a potential player to promote to the Liverpool first-team squad. You look at some of the wide men, they like to come in off the shape and find those pockets but with Trent in particular he gives the right-back a torrid afternoon”Trey Nyoni looks a cut above at youth levelKone-Doherty was not the only player to earn praise from Page following victory in the Youth League.Trey Nyoni is a name every Liverpool fan will be very familiar with by now, and the midfielder once again showed why he already has seven first-team appearances to his name.“Trey was outstanding,” Page said. “And he was the calming influence in the middle of the park, when everyone else is thinking: ‘We’re under a little bit of pressure, do we need to play it in behind?’ “He just gets on the ball and he is that calming influence in the middle of the pitch and I thought he was outstanding.”Though Nyoni is already well established within Slot’s plans, perhaps it is time we got a real look at Kone-Doherty in the senior team.
