(Credit: Imago) Wed 12 November 2025 12:50, UK Matt Le Tissier cannot see Liverpool being in the title race anymore this season amid their poor run of form that saw them lose to challengers Man City last time out.The Premier League legend has exclusively told Football Insider that he feels Liverpool will be unable to string some good results together to challenge the likes of Man City and league leaders Arsenal and retain their crown.Arne Slot led Liverpool to the Premier League title last season, but things have gone badly wrong so far in this campaign to leave them with an outside chance of winning it again after just 11 games. Some poor early-season performances were masked by late goals, and they have been unable to keep that streak up with just three wins in their last 10 games.Liverpool were well-beaten 3-0 by Man City on Sunday (9 November) to leave them in eighth place and eight points behind top of the table Arsenal.Credit: Hasan Karim, Breaking MediaLiverpool look unlikely to win the Premier League againWell-connected former Man United scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that Slot needs to turn things around quickly but he is not in immediate danger of the sack at Anfield despite their dismal run of form. Many Reds supporters have questioned his decision-making throughout this campaign so far, with Florian Wirtz struggling to make an impact since his British transfer record move from Bayer Leverkusen due to often being played out of position on the left wing. MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES A win against the Citizens would have put Slot’s side second in the league and back on track to challenging Arsenal, but they were beaten pretty easily despite Virgil van Dijk’s controversial disallowed goal. The Liverpool captain insisted after that loss that there is “no point” in them looking at the table right now, while Slot said the battle for top spot is the “last thing” the Reds should be thinking about.Le Tissier cannot see Liverpool winning the Premier League this seasonSpeaking exclusively to Football Insider, former England and Southampton striker Le Tissier admitted that he felt Liverpool players did not believe they could match Man City during their loss, and he cannot see Slot’s side challenging them or Arsenal near the top this season. He said: “2-0 down against a team like Man City, you could pretty much see in their eyes that they didn’t feel like, I don’t think they believed they could get back into that game.

“I don’t like to say I told you so, but I did say a few weeks ago that Man City were going to be the closest challengers to Arsenal. “I just don’t feel like Liverpool, you know, that’s such a bad spell that they’ve had over a fairly long period of time now, and I think that’s difficult to recover from.

“I think the title is probably going to be out of their reach this season. At the moment, you just can’t see them stringing together a run of seven, eight, nine games on the bounce that’s going to try and get them back into contention.“You just don’t see it at the minute.“
