Arne Slot has been brilliant for Liverpool so far, and he has drawn the praise of former Premier League stalwarts along the way.The Dutchman was a real unknown for many fans when he joined the club in 2024 following the departure of long-time manager and legendary figure Jurgen Klopp. However, despite his lack of notoriety, Slot was able to mastermind a league title win in his first season at Anfield, which is highly unusual for any manager to do.The 47-year-old has taken it in his stride, and while his start this season has not been as impressive, the likelihood of him leading this squad to back-to-back trophies is high. What has happened in the last three games is a culmination of the issues the Reds have been facing all season in terms of setup and individual performances, but it is nothing he will not be able to fix.Photo by Liverpool FC/Liverpool FC via Getty ImagesSam Allardyce says Arne Slot has made his takeover from Jurgen Klopp a smooth oneThere are worries about the form, and rightly so, but to doubt the ability of the former Feyenoord coach, given his debut season last year, would be unreasonable.Sam Allardyce has been one of the many managers who have coached in the Premier League and have shown their respect to the Dutch international since he arrived. The former manager was asked on his No Tippy Tappy Football podcast to list the 10 best managers in the league today, and he placed the Liverpool manager in the second spot just behind Oliver Glasner.Asked about how well he had done in the job so far, Allardyce said: “I think he’s done a fabulous job, and I think that I probably should have had him at number one. But I think that to come into a football club and buy only one player and the manager that left had such a big personality and such a big love by the fans and by everybody at Liverpool, and done so much for Liverpool that you’re taking over an enormous task.“But it was the quiet way he did it for me, not too much emotion, not too much ranting and raving.

In fact, he’s been ranting and raving more this year.“So there’s something he’s not totally happy with at the minute, but that’s a rare thing to take over somebody. How long had Jurgen been there?

Nine years, something like that, and we’ve seen so many clubs that have to replace a manager who’s been there a long time, fail like Arsenal when Arsene left, (Manchester United) when Alex left.“Liverpool for many years, when Bob Paisley left, and it’s a difficult one when there’s a long stay by the manager having to be replaced, and he’s done that brilliantly, and all the fans still love Klopp but are now very comfortable because he slotted in nicely.”Liverpool fortunate to have Arne SlotIt is a difficult situation as Allardyce describes, taking over from a well-loved figure, but it is correct how well he has adapted to that, given the stature of the man who came before.Out of all the managers on the market, there is no doubt that he was the best option for the way he handles himself, to the way he sets his teams up; his arrival at Liverpool just made sense. After having such a high-energy manager with a massive personality, it was fortunate that the club chose to go with a man with a calmer demeanour to steady the ship as they moved to a new phase. While this bump in the road is seen as a problem quite early on in the season, everything that has been shown by the manager since moving to Merseyside should put people’s fears to rest.
