Arne Slot’s future as Liverpool manager remains a key talking point as the 2025/26 campaign nears its conclusion. The Reds are in the midst of one of their worst seasons in a decade, potentially missing out on any form of silverware and a place in the Champions League.Yet, there has been a suggestion that FSG want Slot to be in charge next term, while the Dutchman’s former assistant at Feyenoord, Marino Pusic, thinks his ex-boss should be given more confidence and deserves more credit.Liverpool told to give their confidence to Arne SlotSpeaking to Voetbal International, Marino Pusic had a clear message for Liverpool fans who want Slot sacked. He said: “I think Arne deserves much more credit at Liverpool right now than he is getting.“Many people forget how frequently Liverpool has become champion of England in recent decades. Arne did it right away in his first season, but Jurgen Klopp has also only won the Premier League title once.“Before that, Liverpool last won the league title in 1990.
And now it is expected that Arne will win the title twice in a row. Especially because so much money has been spent.
That doesn’t always work.“They would do well at Liverpool to remain calm and give Arne and his staff, with Sipke Hulshoff and Giovanni van Bronckhorst, their confidence.”Supporters have been asking for Slot to leave for a while now, and it is easy to see why.The 47-year-old has failed to show any signs that he can turn things around at Anfield this term. There were, of course, reasons Liverpool started the season slowly, including the influx of new signings in the summer. But we are now in April, and if anything, the Reds look in worse shape and have even less confidence than they did at the start of the campaign. There is a real danger Liverpool will make the same mistake they did with Brendan Rodgers after their 2014/15 campaign, and are left in a situation where they will need to sack Slot anyway by October 2026.But for now at least, the message coming out of the club seems to be that the Dutchman remains their man.Join Our NewsletterReceive a digest of our best Liverpool content each week direct to your mailbox
