Liverpool supporters have become concerned with the direction the season could be taking after some recent poor performances.Despite winning seven out of seven to begin the season, the Reds have failed to impress for consistent periods within matches.Instead, Liverpool have had to rely on late winners and individual brilliance to see them through games. This week, their luck has run out. Beaten in succession by Crystal Palace and then Galatasaray, the Liverpool squad looks a shadow of the one which romped to the Premier League last term.Nevertheless, there is still an expectation that once Arne Slot works out the best way to utilise his new signings, Liverpool will be back to looking like a well-oiled machine. And according to former Reds centre-back Jamie Carragher, it is this process which still has him excited over what the season could bring.Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty ImagesJamie Carragher looking forward to Arne Slot’s solutionsDuring the opening months of the season, Slot has looked like a manager who simply does not yet know the best way to use his players. While this has led to some disjointed displays, Carragher says it is the finding of solutions which he is now looking forward to.READ MORE: Liverpool’s right-back conundrum explained as Arne Slot makes frank Jeremie Frimpong admission“What fascinates me from here is how he is going to fix it, because there is no doubt something has to change or Arsenal will be rubbing their hands,” Carragher writes in The Telegraph.“Surprising as it might sound from an ex-player who always wants Liverpool to win, it is good and healthy for the Premier League that Slot heads to Chelsea this weekend with several problems to solve.“Part of me is worried by how Liverpool have played so far.

Another part of me is excited and reassured. “It is exciting because I am looking forward to seeing how Slot goes about making the necessary adjustments and improvements,” adds the pundit.“It is reassuring because creating and maintaining a winning team has to require much more than signing huge cheques, otherwise the chasing pack might as well give up.”Reasons to be positive for LiverpoolWatching Liverpool over recent weeks has been as unexciting as it can possibly get for supporters. There have been odd moments of excellence amid the wreckage, but generally performances have been sloppy, sluggish and more than a little concerning.Nevertheless, Carragher is right to look at the positives.

Slot is a fine coach who will be working hard with the Liverpool coaching staff to find solutions to the problems presented.Although there is still a chance the Dutchman cannot rectify things, he has so far shown a real talent for patching up tactical issues. The process of getting to that point may feel a little painful, but once it clicks, this Liverpool team could be really difficult to stop.
