Liverpool may have lost two games consecutively in the Premier League, but they are still only one point behind Arsenal.A week before their second loss in the top-flight, Arne Slot’s team found themselves five points ahead of their title rivals before back-to-back 2-1 defeats to London clubs. It is obviously a shame that their early lead has been cut short so quickly, but it is only seven games into the season, so there is still time to stay on track to win and overtake Mikel Arteta’s side. Some issues need to be fixed before full confidence is restored from fans because most of the problems that have led to defeats or conceding goals are recurring, no matter the result. How Liverpool respond to these setbacks will be very telling and show their character, which was seen in abundance the season prior when Slot won the title in his debut season.Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty ImagesJamie Redknapp is not worried about Liverpool’s title hopesIt has been one of those weeks where fans and supporters have questioned the tactics of the Dutch manager, given the manner of defeats and how he has responded to the pushback from the opposition. When he fixes the issues with balance and defence, there is no doubt that this team will storm the league and be a hard night’s work for any side.Jamie Redknapp, after all the weekend’s fixtures, has also attempted to calm any fears from fans who may be expecting the worst after the international break.READ MORE: Jamie Redknapp names who Arne Slot should be picking at right-back every week for LiverpoolThe former Red believes that this early ‘wobble’ is nothing to be concerned about, as the group of players at the club’s disposal is enough to see them competing.Speaking to Sky Sports, Redknapp explained: “Liverpool were unbelievable last year. I use the analogy that they climbed the mountain.

They had so much togetherness. They had a desire to go and win the title as a team, and everything was spot on.“They had players who were playing at the peak of their form.

And I just look at Arsenal and I see that they almost have what Liverpool had last year, and Liverpool have to somehow turn it around and get that sort of togetherness back and that belief.“I wasn’t lucky enough to win a title, but when you can see when a team are going to win it and United were relentless at it you can see that they knew what they had to do, and that’s what Liverpool have to find again, and it’s a little wobble… But they will get through it because the players they’ve got are too good for it not to happen, but they need players to get back in form.”Liverpool need to work on their passingIt is a shame and a relief that the international break is coming up. Given the form the Reds are in, it is, of course, good to have a break, but more time spent as a unit is needed. What they really need right now is just one victory in one of their upcoming fixtures; the difference that will make to the mindset of this squad will be incredible. The reason many had not questioned this side and Slot’s tactics is that the late winners showed that it could work, but being in that position constantly and having no control are real problems. They cannot afford to maintain this lack of control, and working on the passing of this squad is clearly a necessity to managing games in a better way.It is why the opposition have been so effective against them and is surely an easy fix given how brilliant the build-up play and control was last season.
