Ibrahima Konate's injury has come at perhaps the worst possible time for Liverpool, with the season having just entered its most frantic period.

The French center-back sustained a knee issue during the closing stages of Wednesday's win over Real Madrid and will reportedly be sidelined for five to six weeks.

If that turns out to be the case, Konate will miss all of Liverpool's remaining fixtures this year, which is a major blow considering the Reds play nine more times in 2024.

Joe Gomez is likely to deputize for Konate in the weeks ahead provided he remains available, with Slot seemingly favoring the former Charlton defender over Jarell Quansah at this moment in time.

Gomez won't be the only change to Liverpool's team against City this Sunday, with Trent Alexander-Arnold also set to come in after he was an unused substitute against Madrid.
