Liverpool cruised to the Premier League title and dominated all over the pitch, although they will still aim to improve next season.

The Reds have given supporters a lot to cheer about this season and every player has been worthy of the recognition they received.

Mohamed Salah has taken most of the plaudits after picking up another Golden Boot and Playmaker award, as well as winning Premier League Player of the Season.

However, there were many other players in the Liverpool squad who were vital to bringing home the club’s 20th league title, some perhaps who slip under the radar.

One player in particular has had a standout season and proven doubters wrong, with his fellow countryman full of praise for his Dutch counterpart.

Justin Kluivert has had somewhat of a breakout season himself after enjoying his best goalscoring campaign of his entire career after netting 12 goals in the league.

However, despite playing some of his best football and being in the form of his life, he revealed on The Rest Is Football podcast that Ryan Gravenberch was the toughest opponent he has faced.

“If I’m in the number 10 position, the toughest, I would say my fellow Dutchman Gravenberch,” Kluivert said.

“With our high press, if you give him this kind of space, with his big legs, in two steps, he’s there, and there’s no way you catch him.

“I think he is the only player that really has this quality.

You can’t give him a slight space because he will carry the ball, and he’s something unique.”

Gravenberch has impressed many this season at Liverpool and has proven why he was signed in the first place, with the Dutchman playing all bar one league game during the campaign.

He has been a vital cog in Arne Slot’s winning machine and at just 23, Liverpool could have a stalwart in the middle of the park for years to come.

From being a bit-part player under Jurgen Klopp last season to a necessity in Slot’s midfield, Gravenberch’s rise has been astronomical.

The Dutchman was nothing short of sensational in the opening months of the season and the balance of him and Alexis Mac Allister made Liverpool’s midfield one of the most dominant in the division.

Fatigue eventually kicked in and he was unable to maintain the levels after starting almost every game, although he still managed to show why the defensive midfielder position is his own.

The Reds may recruit reinforcements in this area ahead of next season, not because of a lack of quality but due to the need for depth, although Gravenberch will no doubt still play a vital role as Liverpool look to defend their title.
