It’s difficult to place this season on a scale for Liverpool.

Before the start of this season many have written Joe Gomez off.

But this season, Gomez has proved just how valuable he is to this Liverpool team, and earned himself a return to the England national team in the process.

He has become a utility man, but also a player who makes Liverpool better when he is on the pitch.

As Simon Brundish pointed out, Liverpool win 0.95 points more per game with Gomez on the pitch this season than when he isn’t.

He’s been quite an underrated player over the last few years at Liverpool, and deserves more credit.
