But while Alexander Isak is due to arrive for a British record transfer fee, and Marc Guehi could yet follow him, there is likely to be some movement in the departures lounge as well.

As Rousing The Kop revealed earlier on Monday, Elliott is keen on a move to Aston Villa, with Unai Emery’s side pushing for an agreement.

And with the hours ticking down on the window, journalist David Ornstein has broken news of an agreement being very close.

Elliott has become a peripheral figure under Arne Slot.

Nevertheless, he is a boyhood Liverpool fan who always gives his all on the pitch.

Supporters will be disappointed to see him go.

But according to Ornstein, that is exactly what looks like it may now happen.

Taking to X this afternoon, the journalist reported that a loan with an obligation to buy is advancing quickly between Villa and Liverpool.
