Liverpool looks as though it may lose the race to sign Antoine Semenyo in January to Manchester City, but there are a few alternatives the Reds could consider insteadLiverpool looks like it could lose the race for Antoine Semenyo to Manchester City(Image: Getty Images)We’re still a little over a week away from the Janaury transfer window, but already it looks like Manchester City may have beaten Liverpool to one of the biggest names expected to be on the move.Antoine Semenyo looks as though he could leave Bournemouth in the New Year, with the Reds having linked with his services alongside the Premier League’s other big hitters. Reports though are now suggesting that it’s City that is leading the way, with the Ghana international favoring a move to the Etihad. That may come as a big blow for Liverpool, which may well be looking to bolster its attacking options after Alexander Isak was ruled out for the lengthy period with a broken leg, and while Mohamed Salah’s future remains uncertain.READ MORE: Liverpool given chance to bring back cult hero for free after Alexander Isak injuryREAD MORE: Former Liverpool coach says he's open to Anfield return - 'Welcome to call me'If that is the case though, then the Reds will hopefully have some alternatives in mind - here are four names Liverpool could consider now that Semenyo looks to be out of the picture…Yan DiomandeHe might be just 19, but Yan Diomande has been turning heads with his performances for RB Leipzig this season.
The German club snapped him up from Spanish side Leganes during the summer, but he already has seven goals and four assists from 16 appearances.Diomande is primarily a left winger, but he does have the versatility to play on the right, and he has already been linked with a move to Anfield, with Sky Sports Switzerland claiming earlier this month that Liverpool had made "very advanced" contact for him.Yan Diomande has impressed since joining RB Leipzig in the summer(Image: Getty Images)Liverpool has fared well when signing players from Leipzig in the past, with Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai having both made their way from the Bundesliga side. There is one big issue that could hinder a potential January move though, with Diomande having been called up by Ivory Coast for the Africa Cup of Nations.Michael OliseThis one would be moving into dream territory for Liverpool, and chances are it's not a move that could be done in January - not without forking over a huge sum, at least. But Michael Olise's stock has only risen since he made the move from Crystal Palace to Bayern Munich in 2024.

Those links might point to an interest that could be rekindled soon.A left-footed right winger would fit in nicely as a potential long-term heir to Mohamed Salah, and the Reds may well be keeping a close eye on Minteh as the season progresses - assuming they don't make an early play for him next month.
