Liverpool's pre-season preparations continued in the US with an open training session in Chicago, although there was a notable absentee ahead of the final game of the tourCurtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai in training with Liverpool in Chicago(Image: Liverpool FC)Liverpool’s players are coming to the end of their tour of the US, with Andoni Iraola’s side preparing for their final run-out against Leeds on Sunday.Friday saw the new Liverpool boss put his squad through their paces once again during an open training session in Chicago, with media present to see everything unfold - and there were plenty of eyes on Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai and Kostas Tsimikas after their public disagreement earlier in the week.It was the absence of another player though that caught the eye, with yet more concerns being raised ahead of Sunday’s final game of the tour. Here's what we spotted from Liverpool's training session in Chicago on Friday...Jacquet missingDespite Iraola indicating that Jeremy Jacquet would play a part in Liverpool's final game of the US tour, the defender was absent from the pitch for Friday's training session. That will obviously raise doubts about his involvement against Leeds on Sunday. Jacquet instead took part in a gym session, with no indication yet whether he will be able to play at the weekend.Liverpool has been cautious with the 21-year-old so far since he linked with up with his new team, having not played a competitive game since February and undergoing surgery on a shoulder injury.
With Giovanni Leoni and Joe Gomez also not involved, the Reds options at the back are running low.Jones, Szoboszlai and Tsimikas make upThe videos that have emerged of Jones, Szoboszlai and Tsimikas since Wednesday's friendly against Wrexham certainly haven't painted the picture of a happy camp.Jones was seen involved in a heated discussion with Szoboszlai in the first video to hit social media, before another showed Tsimikas throwing the captain's armband to the ground as he engaged with he fellow teammates. There was no sign of any bad blood between Curtis Jones, Kostas Tsimikas and Dominik Szoboszlai in Liverpool training(Image: Liverpool FC)It's not absolutely clear what sparked the apparent argument, although Szoboszlai had handed Tsimikas the armband after being substituted. By Friday's session though, there didn't appear to be any lingering bad blood between the trio.Jones, Tsimikas and Szoboszlai were seen juggling a ball between each other as they made their way out onto the training pitch, with all three looking happy and showing no signs of animosity.Endo returnsWhile Jacquet was missing, Liverpool was boosted by the return of Wataru Endo.
Whether he will play a part on Sunday remains to be seen, with Iraola having not risked other players too early so far, but Endo will be a useful option to have back, especially as a potential backup in defense.Get Liverpool's new 2026/27 home kitThis article contains affiliate links, we will receive a commission on any sales we generate from it.
