And now that we're into July, a whole new raft of players have become available for free as their contracts expire.
Which of the countless players available as free agents would be of interest to Liverpool might be difficult to decipher, but Liverpool.com has taken a look at five options that might interest the Reds.
Jonathan David
Without doubt the most eye-catching name on the list, and one that has been linked with Liverpool a number of times already.
Jonathan David celebrates after equalizing against Liverpool at Anfield in last season's Champions League league phase.

Vallejo never quite managed to break through as a regular for Los Blancos, although he did have his moments - not least the Champions League semi-final against Manchester City in 2022.
Whether he would be a viable option for a team hunting down Premier League and Champions League glory is debatable given he hasn't played that much in recent years, although if Liverpool is planning on signing another center-back, then he might well work as an extra option.

Probably not, if we're completely honest, but he is still just 27, and who knows, he might be able to do a job as a backup to whoever becomes the Reds' new No.9.
Chancel Mbemba
Looking through the list of free agents, there aren't too many names that stand out in truth
Now available for free, he might well be worth a look for Liverpool as a backup option at center-back
