Liverpool's squad was back in training on Merseyside on Wednesday following the US tour with Victor Munoz joining his new teammates for the first time, but concerns continue over Jeremy JacquetVictor Munoz took part in his firts Liverpool training session on Wednesday(Image: Getty Images)Liverpool’s squad was back out in force at the AXA Training Centre on Wednesday as preparations continue for the new season, which is now just over two weeks away.Having returned from their tour of the US, Andoni Iraola put his players through their paces once again, with Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Alisson Becker added to the mix for the first time this summer. And there was even a brand new face among the group, although injuries remain a real worry for the Reds, especially in defense, where Iraola is still waiting to utilise one of his new signings. Here's a look at what we spotted from Liverpool's latest training session...Jacquet missing againJeremy Jacquet was once again missing from training on Wednesday, with his continued absence now proving to be a real concern with just over two weeks to go until the start of the new season. With Joe Gomez out injured, you would expect the 21-year-old to step up alongside Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the defense against Newcastle on August 23, but it's looking more and more unlikely that he'll be ready in time, having not played any minutes yet in pre-season and looking like a major doubt to face Monaco on Sunday. The options to start alongside Van Dijk are really thin on the ground now, with Giovanni Leoni still working his way back to training after his ACL injury.Jeremie Frimpong takes on Victor Munoz during Liverpool training(Image: Getty Images)Victor Munoz arrivesWednesday marked new signing Victor Munoz's first training session with Liverpool, with the winger having returned slightly earlier than expected following the World Cup.The 23-year-old did of course make it all the way to the final with Spain and, like Alexis Mac Allister, he would have been entitled to a bit more time off.Having not played any minutes during the tournament though, Munoz should be pretty fresh and ready to go, even if he has curtailed his holiday to report to the AXA for the first time, and his new shirt number has already been confirmed by the club.It might prove to be a little too soon for him to make his first appearance against Monaco on Sunday, but we should get be able to get at least a glimpse of him in action before the season begins.Get Liverpool's new 2026/27 home kitThis article contains affiliate links, we will receive a commission on any sales we generate from it. Let's just hope he can get through these next couple of weeks without any more scares.Giorgi Mamardashvili and Alisson Becker in training for Liverpool(Image: Getty Images)Alisson's backThis week is also the first time we've seen Alisson Becker back in training with the Reds, with the Brazilian reunited with his fellow goalkeepers Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman and Harvey Davies. After much speculation surrounding his future earlier in the summer, Alisson looks to be staying put for what may prove to be his final year as a Liverpool player.Fingers crossed its one to remember for all of the right reasons, and he can get through it injury-free, starting with Monaco on Sunday.Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch make their way out for Liverpool training(Image: Getty Images)Jones and Gakpo focusedWhile all appears to be well after Curtis Jones' heated exchange with Dominik Szoboszlai and Kostas Tsimikas on tour, speculation continues over his future, and it may get more intense with just a few weeks remaining in the transfer window now.Likewise, Cody Gakpo is the subject of ongoing rumors linking him with a move to Tottenham - a move which would appear to be a bit of risk from Liverpool's end if it did happen, considering Hugo Ekitike's injury and the fact that a replacement for Mohamed Salah still hasn't been secured. As things stand then, both Jones and Gakpo remain Liverpool players, and neither seem to be letting the frustration distract them as they continue working towards the new season. We'll no doubt find out more about their futures as the summer goes on, and we may well get hints in the remaining friendlies, but it's business as usual for now.
