With the World Cup entering the latter stages, there are plenty of standout stars from the tournament already that Liverpool could consider adding to the team in the summer transfer windowLiverpool could add several World Cup stars to the team this summer(Image: (Photo by Catherine Ivill - AMA/Getty Images))Liverpool's summer transfer business has already seen the team bolstered with two new arrivals, with Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz joining the roster, but there is more work to be done. The Reds are keen to strengthen in key areas, most notably in the wide areas as well as the midfield, with several high-profile transfer targets emerging over the course of the window so far. Many of those moves may not accelerate until after the World Cup, however, with players putting all of their focus into competing at the highest level for their national teams while the tournament is still ongoing. The competition may well have unearthed some interesting talent that teams may not have considered before, with some huge performances likely to catch the eye of one or two sides along the way.Liverpool will be one of those keeping a close eye on the World Cup, with some targets potentially featuring in the tournament in North America this summer. So, with that said, here's a look at five World Cup stars the Reds should target this summer, after some impressive performances.Gilberto Mora (Mexico)There is set to be plenty of competition to sign Gilberto Mora this summer, and for good reason, too, as the 17-year-old showed his potential on the World Cup stage for Mexico.Liverpool has been linked with a move for Mexico wonderkid Gilberto Mora(Image: (Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images))The playmaker was positive in every action, looking to receive the ball from those around him, while he looked comfortable competing at a senior level. For Liverpool, a move for Mora would continue with the theme of transfer links so far, which have been signings who are young and with plenty of potential for the future. There may be a wait to land the Mexico star in the making, as he cannot join until he is 18, meaning at the earliest he could make a switch in January.
The Morocco midfielder looks more established and accustomed to senior soccer, having gained plenty of experience featuring for his national team, as well as his club team Lille. The way the 18-year-old can run the game is impressive, often shrugging off pressure from the opposition to help start attacks from back to front.Ayyoub Bouaddi has starred for Morocco at the World Cup(Image: Ayman Aref/NurPhoto via Getty Images)Out of possession, Bouaddi is able to compete physically, as shown in the tournament so far, while the French league, where he plays, is closest to the Premier League in terms of that physicality.A deal may not be cheap, as the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal have also been tracking a move. However, it would be an impressive deal for a player with potential and the ability to make an impact here and now.Bradley Barcola (France)Liverpool needs a winger, and should look no further than Bradley Barcola as the man to be the successor to Mohamed Salah's place in the team. Not only is he likely to be available, due to PSG's movements in the market, but he has a profile that perfectly fits the Reds.
At 23, he has some potential to grow further, but he already has the underlying quality to make an impact, having become a serial winner in his time with Les Parisiens.Barcola's time with France so far has seen him pick up two goals and one assist in five World Cup games, showing he has the quality to make a difference in a stacked frontline.Johan Manzambi (Switzerland)Another player of a younger age profile who has impressed at the World Cup this summer is Switzerland midfielder Johan Manzambi. While he hasn't been starting every game, the 20-year-old has made a devastating impact when it matters, scoring three goals and assisting two during the competition so far.Manzambi, who plays his club football for Freiburg, can play as a central midfielder or as an attacking midfielder, and adds some energy to the central ranks.Any deal could be tough, as Newcastle is eyeing a move, but it wouldn't be the first time that Liverpool hijacked a deal from their Premier League rivals.Alex Baena (Spain)Perhaps it's because of the quality of Lamine Yamal on the right, or the overall quality of the Spain squad, but it seems as though Alex Baena is an underrated presence for the current European champions. The 24-year-old works hard and offers an overall balance to the team, something not unexpected of an Atletico Madrid player, which may make him a perfect addition for Liverpool. The right-footed winger often plays on the left, but can feature on the right, offering a versatile threat. He has one goal and one assist for Spain so far, and looks set to keep his position starting for the rest of the tournament.Baena has a deal until 2030, which may make it tough to land him, but he could be a surprise option for a club like Liverpool after an impressive stint for Spain.
