It's now been 20 years since Liverpool FC lifted the European Cup for a fifth time in barely believable circumstances.

And these brilliant images captured on this day two decades ago are bound to stir some memories.

On May 25, 2005, the Red fought back from 3-0 down to AC Milan before beating the Italians on penalties in Istanbul, Turkey.



The incredible victory by Rafa Benitez's team has not been forgotten and to celebrate the 20th anniversary, the ECHO has delved into the archives to share these amazing images from that day.

Captured by ECHO photographer Colin Lane, you can see everything from fans who travelled from across the globe in the build up to the famous game to the moment the LFC team celebrated their victory in the stadium.

And now today, Arne Slot's side will be officially presented with the Premier League trophy following the final game of the season against Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Tomorrow, Bank Holiday Monday, May 26, Liverpool Football Club will mark its historic 20th English league title with a citywide victory parade.
