Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Brazilian teenager Alysson Edward.
Arne Slot’s side have been active and busy in the transfer market, with deals for Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Armin Pecsi, and Freddie Woodman all completed.
More new signings are expected before the window slams shut.
Two positions are of paramount importance for Liverpool this summer.
The Reds want a defender and a striker.
Marc Guehi is one option the club are considering for the centre-back position.
We exclusively revealed that Liverpool have agreed personal terms with the Crystal Palace defender.
The deal is now dependent on Liverpool agreeing on the financial package with Palace.
Elsewhere, we also exclusively revealed that Liverpool are continuing talks with Salford City’s Will Wright.
The 17-year-old is one of the most exciting talents to come out of the Salford City academy, and we exclusively revealed that he is attracting interest from Liverpool as well as several top Premier League sides.
And now, the latest report from Brazil has linked Liverpool with a move for Gremio attacker Alysson Edward.
According to journalist Bruno Soares (via Bolavip), Liverpool are closely monitoring the 19-year-old’s progress and may submit an official offer in the coming weeks.
The report revealed that “the 19-year-old player has been watched by scouts from the English club, who see him as having promising potential for the future.”
It is also reported that it will not be difficult for Liverpool to convince the player to join the club.
However, Edward’s reported €60 million release clause could be a hindrance to getting a deal done.
The report claims that “despite the pressure, Grêmio ‘s management plans to keep the striker until the end of the season, avoiding losing key players midway through the season and maintaining the squad’s competitiveness.
There is a ray of hope in the transfer, though, as Gremio is said to be aware of “the need to raise cash from player sales to meet financial goals”.
With the Reds still keen on signing an attacking player, Arne Slot’s side could use Edward’s quality and depth in the attacking unit, and the 19-year-old would be a solid long-term acquisition.
He will add goals, creativity, and unpredictability to the side.
The fact that he is keen on joining a European club will be a huge boost for Liverpool as well.
Edward had previously spoken about a potential move to the Premier League, revealing that he would be excited to take on the opportunity.
“I do have that desire.
Whether I stay here and build a great story or go there, both ways will be good.”
