Jamie Carragher has admitted his concerns that ‘player power’ is running rampant at Liverpool following the decision to remove Arne Slot as head coach.Despite publicly maintaining that they were fully behind Slot heading into the summer, the Reds surprisingly pulled the trigger on him on Saturday, citing a need to go in a different direction. In truth, there were many reasons to get rid of the Liverpool boss, but, according to Carragher, one of them absolutely should not have been the fallout from Mohamed Salah’s explosive social media post just before the end of the campaign. How happy are you that Arne Slot is leaving Liverpool?!

I don’t like that.”Photo by Jack Thomas/Getty ImagesREAD MORE: Why Xabi Alonso was not offered the Liverpool manager’s job according to Tony Cascarino“What manager does it help when your star player comes out publicly criticising the manager?
“That should never happen no matter the circumstances or the situation.”Though there were regular claims that Slot had ‘lost the dressing room,’ and a number of first-team player ‘liked’ Salah’s not-so-subtle message degrading his tactics, the group did turn up and fight for him at times this season. But while it did not always look quite so prevalent, there was a clear disconnect between the head coach and his players, which Liverpool clearly felt could not be repaired. Let’s just hope they don’t start forming this habit and turn on the new coach at the first opportunity.
