Following the fixture announcement, it has been confirmed that Liverpool will host Bournemouth at Anfield on Friday 15th August, with this being the very first game of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
There is still a lot of work to do between now and then and Arne Slot will have a completely different set of options to those he has now, making this an exciting period for fans.
A few key players may leave to raise funds and balance the books, but equally some big names are set to join, with many of these likely to be given their debut during this outing.
Here’s who we think the Liverpool head coach will pick for the Reds as they look to begin the season with a bang.

The backline will likely pick itself and barring any drastic attempts from other clubs trying to sign him, Alisson Becker will start in goal despite Giorgi Mamardashvili’s arrival.
Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate will likely resume their usual centre-back pairing, with new signings Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez either side of them, with the latter set to face, what will be by that point, his former club.

Alexis Mac Allister is almost nailed on to start, but he could be paired alongside Dominic Szoboszlai as Ryan Gravenberch is suspended after being sent off on the final day of last season.

Predicted Liverpool XI for their first Premier League game of the season
The attack is where the lineup gets interesting as Florian Wirtz will make his Premier League debut for Liverpool, with the usual presence of Mohamed Salah to the right of him.
To the left, however, might be Dutchman Cody Gakpo for a few reasons, but mainly due to his form towards the back-end of the season.
As well as this, Luis Diaz’s future is uncertain and he may not even be at the club by the time this fixture rolls around.
The striker is the position all Liverpool fans are looking out for, but it also could be anyone at this point.
Alexander Isak is the dream target but seems unattainable, with Hugo Ekitike looking like the back-up option, meaning he goes in this lineup despite Eintracht Frankfurt wanting around £85m.
As mentioned, the striker Liverpool get by the end of the summer is still largely unknown and it could be anyone in a big pool of candidates.
However, Ekitike appears the most feasible as of now given that Newcastle will likely want around £130m-£140m for Isak.
Fabrizio Romano has also recently confirmed that the Reds are still in the race for the Frenchman and it would not be a surprise to see him end up at Anfield.
Whoever they do decide to buy, however, will likely go straight into the team as the new striker, especially as they will have to spend big money on almost all of their targets.
