Jurgen Klopp may be one of world football's best managers - but he has merely been a 'significant participator' at Liverpool.

That is the view of ex-Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan, who has called out the 56-year-old's trophy record at Anfield.

Klopp will be standing down in Merseyside at the end of the season to bring an end to his nine years spent at Liverpool.

And while the Reds have regularly competed for - and won - titles in almost every campaign, Klopp has more often than not had to settle for second best.

Despite ending Liverpool's 30-year wait for a league title, they have finished as runners-up twice to Manchester City, even though they recorded 97 and 92 points respectively.

talkSPORT co-host Jordan has praised Klopp for keeping the Premier League competitive, but believes he cannot be considered a serial winner - especially with the club's title dreams all-but over this term.

He said of the German: "Without the energy of Jurgen Klopp, certain aspects of the Premier League wouldn't be what it has been over the last five or six years.

"Manchester City would have just run away with everything and would have posted ridiculous totals and there wouldn't have been the competivity.

"Outside of Liverpool, it's difficult to argue that with the noise and the sizzle that goes around Klopp, there isn't as much sear, it's more sizzle.

"Because Klopp has got this remarkable reputation, he's perceived by me, because of the brand of football that he plays, to be the best coach in the world.

The German has often come up short in his quest for major silverware since taking over in 2016

"Although the statistics don't bear that out because [Pep] Guardiola clearly takes that position, so you have to air on the side, without being controversial, that it's a little bit less of a winner, and a little bit more of a significant participator."

Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor, who believes Klopp's leaving announcement has contributed to their slump in form, has agreed with Jordan's analysis.

Speaking on the talkSPORT Breakfast Show, he remarked: "If you look at his record at Liverpool, winning the Premier League and Champions League is an outstanding achievement.

"But will you look back in ten/15 years and say, 'Klopp was a legendary Premier League manager?'

"When you look at Fergie [Sir Alex Ferguson] he got 13 titles, Pep five - going to be six probably this season - [Jose] Mourinho three, Arsene Wenger three.

"Klopp with the same as [Manuel] Pellegrini, [Carlo] Ancelotti, [Antonio] Conte and [Claudio] Ranieri with one.

"He's been unlucky hasn't he?
