AC Milan reportedly made enquiries about signing one Liverpool striker this summer.
The major focus of the Reds’ summer transfer business has been on new signings so far.
Jérémie Frimpong, Armin Pecsi, Florian Wirtz, and Milos Kerkez have all officially joined the club.
There have been exits too, but none have matched the magnitude of Liverpool’s incoming in terms of funds generated or buzz among the other teams.
Caoimhin Kelleher to Brentford has been the biggest shipment away from Liverpool this summer.
Jarell Quansah is another exit that is set to generate some huge funds for the club.
The 22-year-old is set to sign for Bayer Leverkusen in a deal that will fetch Liverpool over £30 million.
However, Quansah will likely not be Liverpool’s most expensive sale this summer.
That honour is likely to be that of Darwin Nunez, who is currently leading towards a move to Napoli.
The Serie A champions have reportedly secured Nunez’s agreement to the deal and are now in discussions with Liverpool over the structure of the deal.
However, a new report from Italian journalist Matteo Moretto states that Napoli are not the only Serie A side that has contacted Nunez.
According to the journalist, AC Milan also made enquiries about signing Nunez.
Speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Moretto revealed that while the Rossoneri club are very much on the sidelines compared to Napoli, they did enquire about the 26-year-old.
“I told you exclusively how Milan was one of the clubs that asked for information on Darwin Nunez, in addition to Napoli, who is clearly ahead,” Moretto said.
“But De Laurentiis’ club has not yet found the basis for an agreement with Liverpool.
Always keep an eye on the name of Lorenzo Lucca for Napoli.
For Milan, despite a high level of approval for Nunez, in terms of costs, it is an almost impracticable path, difficult to reach”.
