AC Milan have reportedly made a €60 million bid to sign Darwin Nunez.
The future of the Uruguayan forward is one of the major talking points this summer.
Nunez is set to leave Liverpool this summer, and several clubs were reported to be interested in signing him.
Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Saudi Pro League sides.
However, Antonio Conte’s Napoli were said to be ahead of the others in the race for the striker’s signature.
The 26-year-old striker had reportedly given the green light to Napoli, as a move began to accelerate.
A recent report from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that the Serie A club has submitted their first bid.
Di Marzio claimed that an offer of €50 million plus an extra five million in bonuses was submitted in recent days by Napoli.
Fabrizio Romano then provided an update on the offer, revealing that Napoli’s bid of €50 million plus an extra five million in bonuses that was being reported is not going to be enough.
“50 million euros was never going to be enough for Liverpool despite the reports we had in the recent hours,” Romano asserted.
“Napoli know that with that kind of money, Liverpool will never accept a proposal for Darwin Nunez, but in the next days/weeks, Napoli are expected to try again for Darwin?
He remains their top target.”
However, the transfer seems to have collapsed in the last few days, with Napoli said to have abandoned the deal due to the price tag Liverpool placed on Nunez.
The Italian club was struggling to meet Liverpool’s valuation of the player, and as a result, the deal has collapsed.
The deal will cost up to 34 million euros for Lucca, a considerably lower sum than what it would’ve been for Darwin Nunez.
With Napoli now seemingly off the track for the race for Nunez, other options have emerged.
According to Arriyadiyah, AC Milan have made a €60 million bid to sign Darwin Nunez.
However, the report also highlighted that Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal are also keen on Nunez and will look to beat AC Milan to his signing.
