Liverpool host Bournemouth at Anfield on Friday night to kick-off the 2025/26 Premier League season.
While talks have been opened with Crystal Palace over a potential £35millon deal for Marc Guehi as they look to accelerate their interest in the centre-back.
On paper Liverpool have upgraded the squad that won the Premier League with four matches to spare last season, and, as a result, find themselves as the team being tipped to come out on top again.
And for Reds supporters feeling optimistic about the new season, our friends over at Bet365 are offering odds of 7/4 on Liverpool retaining their Premier League crown.
Arne Slot’s side are also priced at 1/9 to finish in the top four, while the Reds are 4/7 to win just one major trophy.
Liverpool are also a huge 2500/1 to finish bottom and 1000/1 to be relegated to the Sky Bet Championship.
The view from our chief Liverpool writer, Ian Doyle
The manner in which Liverpool romped to the Premier League title last season is reason for most to believe they are the team to beat this time around.
Except that team no longer exists.
The squad that Arne Slot will be relying on this campaign is very, very different.
And that should be taken into consideration when assessing the chances of Liverpool successfully retaining a trophy for the first time in more than 40 years.
With so many new signings and a significant number of key players moving on, the transition expected during Slot’s first summer in charge has now come to pass.
It will take time for all those new players to adapt and gel.
While there aren’t any real concerns in the long-term, those opening months of the season will be a real test and could leave the Reds with a bit too much ground to make up in the title race.
Perhaps it would be more wise, then, to back Liverpool for the Champions League.
Paris Saint-Germain proved last season you can make a right mess of the new-look opening stage and still win the competition, provided you find your groove after Christmas.
That seems more likely this season for Liverpool.
So odds of 11/2 for the Reds to win a seventh European Cup look rather attractive.
