Leeds fans are outraged at their club’s chiefs after more blows to two of their key players was confirmed ahead of their huge clash against Wolves this weekend.

Leeds won the Championship title at a canter last season, and they entered the summer window with a lot of optimism ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke looked to bolster his options across the pitch by delving into the transfer market in the summer, but many fans felt they were left short in attack after Arsenal battered Leeds 5-0 in their first away game of the new campaign.

They were able to emerge with points in games against Everton and Newcastle, but a trip to Fulham last time out saw Gabriel Gudmundsson score a late own goal to consign them to another loss, and they now face a huge clash against fellow strugglers Wolves on Saturday (20 September).

Leeds have already had numerous key men injured so far this term, and two fresh issues ahead of their trip to Molineux have made supporters fume at the club’s lack of activity over the summer window.

The Athletic’s Beren Cross confirmed via X on Thursday (18 September) that Farke had admitted that Leeds star men Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto are unlikely to feature against Wolves in his press conference, saying: “‘Dan James is a major doubt, struggling with a hit in a core muscle.

Late calls, but major doubts.'”

The Whites have already been stung by attacking injuries this season, with Noah Okafor ruled out against Newcastle last month as fans were annoyed at his long history of being sidelined, while Joel Piroe has not featured in either of their last two outings with a calf problem.

Leeds’ owners, 49ers Enterprises, only allowed Farke to sign three attackers in the summer window, in Okafor, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, while Leeds’ move for Fulham’s Harry Wilson collapsed late on and they missed out on many other forward targets.

The German boss is now facing the prospect of a tough, arguably must-win, away game without two of his usual starters, and Leeds fans have taken the news badly with many criticising the board for their lack of recent transfer activity in response to Cross’ post.

One fan said: “Going down and its on 49ers,” while another replied: “We are an absolute joke of a club” with a number of laughing emojis.

Another added: “So glad we got those attackers he wanted in!

Oh wait,” with a facepalm emoji, while one similarly sarcastically replied: “Good thing we got those attackers he was begging for for weeks on end!”

Other supporters slammed the club’s decision to allow left-winger Largie Ramazani to leave on loan late in the window, with one saying: “Imagine if we would have had another winger who would have been perfect replacement.

Good job we did let that guy out on loan…” while another ironically added: “Good job we signed some attacking replacements in the window and didn’t also send one out on loan.”

Leeds have been tipped by many to go straight back down to the Championship this season along with Sunderland and Burnley, mainly due to the dismal showings of newly-promoted sides Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton last term.

They have not started well, but did show some signs of life in their win over Everton and draw against Newcastle, and will likely need to rely on their home games to pick up the majority of their points across the whole campaign.

Their trip to Wolves comes at a pretty bad time considering these latest injury blows, and it is effectively already a must-win considering Vitor Pereira’s side’s struggles, after they suffered four straight losses to start the season off poorly.

Pereira is set to sign a new contract at Wolves, though, and it feels as if they have been building up to this game as their best opportunity to get their first points on the board, so Leeds should be fearful heading into the game.
