Liverpool told Arne Slot won’t do what Erik ten Hag has done at Man Utd after taking over

Liverpool look to have found their next manger.

The Reds look set to hire the Dutchman.

Indeed, talks with Arne Slot are progressing, and the man himself has even stated that he wants the job.

If all goes to plan, it sounds as though Slot will be Jurgen Klopp’s replacement at Anfield.

So, what will Slot bring to Liverpool? Well, that remains to be seen, but according to Melissa Reddy, speaking to Sky Sports, there’s one thing that Slot absolutely will not do.

What Arne Slot won’t do at Liverpool

Reddy was asked if Slot would copy Erik ten Hag’s strategy of bringing players with him from the Eredivisie over to the Premier League.

“Naturally there have been comparisons to Erik ten Hag at Manchester United who has chosen to take a lot of players he worked with at Ajax to Manchester United, could we see something similar at Liverpool if Slot takes over?

“Absolutely not. I don’t think any comparison can be made because Liverpool’s recruitment structure is so well established. Ten Hag felt he had to be the de facto Sporting Director at United and INEOS have come in and tried to fix that and made sure there’s a strong operational structure behind the scenes. One of the key reasons Liverpool see Slot as a key candidate for this job is because his playing style is so similar to theirs under Jurgen Klopp,” Reddy said.

Arne Slot doesn’t need signings from Feyenoord

As much as Slot probably loves his group of players from Feyenoord, bringing them over to the Premier League may not be the best idea.

As Ten Hag’s spending spree at United has shown, there’s a real gulf between the two leagues, and Liverpool need to be fishing in different ponds if they want the next stage of their development to work out.

There will be signings at Liverpool this summer, but, by the sounds of it, the Reds won’t be signing anyone from Feyenoord.
