Liverpool were left disappointed on Sunday after losing out to Crystal Palace in the Community Shield.
The Reds have won the season’s traditional curtain-raiser 16 times in their history, but were denied number 17 by an impressive Palace.
Ultimately, the game was won and lost on penalties after an even battle ended in a 2-2 scoreline.
However, Liverpool will not be pleased with their overall performance, with plenty for Arne Slot to work on ahead of Friday’s Premier League opener.
The defeat also left Slot facing questions in the transfer market, with a clear need for further reinforcements to be brought in over the next three weeks.
One of the biggest areas for concern is at centre-back, where Liverpool looked shaky at Wembley.
On the other side of the pitch was a man who has been frequently linked with the Reds over recent months: Marc Guehi.
Liverpool fans were impressed with Guehi’s performance and after he hobbled off the pitch with minutes remaining, those supporters let the Palace captain know what they thought of his display.

Sunday really shone a light on where the Liverpool squad still needs bolstering ahead of the new season.
Unfortunately, there are more than a few areas which could do with improvement.

Guehi could fix this, and according to journalist Lewis Steele, Liverpool supporters ironically clapped a player who could soon be wearing red as he left the Wembley pitch.
“Marc Guehi subbed off for Crystal Palace and gets a sarcastic applause from the Liverpool fans ahead of a potential move this month,” Steele posted on X.
“Saying that he currently looks injured so…”
Of course, if Guehi’s injury is a serious one, then it could well have an impact on Liverpool’s interest.
Ahead of the game on Sunday, there were strong suggestions that Liverpool are in pole position to sign Guehi, with Chelsea not expected to come in for their former academy prospect.
But with the Reds needing players who can make an impact more or less straight away, a knock could put paid to their pursuit.
Thankfully, perhaps, Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed in his post-match press conference that Guehi’s removal was purely down to the effects of cramp.
With the 25-year-old not expected to suffer any long-term trouble, his move to Liverpool could be back on.
