Liverpool fans have largely accepted that Darwin Nunez is set to leave Anfield this summer, with the Uruguayan striker moving closer to an exit.
Under Arne Slot, Nunez’s role diminished significantly, scoring just seven goals in 47 appearances across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign.
After starting his final match for Liverpool in March 2025, he increasingly lost his place to Luis Diaz in central attacking positions.
Having netted 40 goals in 122 outings since joining in 2022, Nunez’s time at Liverpool looks set to end, with the club and fans already seeing a major overhaul up front this summer.
We revealed earlier this week that AC Milan were keen to sign the Uruguayan and were willing to make an offer, but it soon became clear that the Serie A giants could not get near Liverpool’s valuation.
DaveOCKOP.com can now reveal the structure of AC Milan’s proposed deal for Nunez.
AC Milan initially approached Liverpool with a loan-to-buy proposal that was believed to be structured with a modest £10 million fee per year without any sell-on clause.
Liverpool, however, insisted on a straight purchase and declined Milan’s structurally weak bid.
Almost immediately after, Al Hilal tabled a €55 million outright offer – €40 million upfront, with the remainder tied to achievable sporting bonuses – and secured Liverpool’s approval.
DaveOCKOP can also reveal that Nunez is set to earn a tidy wage in Saudi Arabia.
He could earn up to £400,000-per-week over a three-year contract, which will make him one of the highest-paid strikers in world football.
Despite the lucrative terms, the 25-year-old remains focused on his international ambitions; he has requested assurances from the Uruguayan Football Association that taking this step will not jeopardise his selection for the 2026 World Cup squad.
He does not want playing in the Saudi Pro League to affect his status in the national team setup.
Nunez featured in 47 matches across all competitions last season but was only in the starting lineup eight times.
This summer, Liverpool has bolstered their attacking options by signing Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Selling Nunez would not only free up valuable wages but also provide financial backing for Liverpool’s ongoing chase of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, who, as we exclusively reported, is prepared to submit a formal transfer request if his move to Anfield does not progress swiftly.
