David Ornstein has provided the latest on Darwin Nunez and the reported interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
The Uruguay international is increasingly looking likely to leave Liverpool this summer.
The Reds have made some big moves in the offensive department this summer, and it appears to signal the end of Nunez’s time at the club.
The club have Hugo Ekitike and are now being linked to closing in on the signing of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.
Arne Slot has made up his mind about Nunez and has decided to replace the Uruguay international this summer.
The striker has been attracting interest from Serie A and the Saudi Pro League for quite some time now, and it now appears that he could seal a move in the coming days as Al-Hilal have now stepped up their interest in him.
This is according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who claims that the Saudi Pro League club have made Nunez their main target, after missing out on Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko.
“Al Hilal have identified Darwin Nunez as their priority target to strengthen in attack and are now stepping up efforts aimed at landing the Liverpool striker,” Ornstein wrote for The Athletic.
“They heavily pursued Victor Osimhen, with Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko also among the options considered?
But given Osimhen has joined Galatasaray, while Isak and Sesko look unattainable, Nunez is emerging as Al Hilal’s main focus, and internally they have accelerated plans to push for the Uruguay international’s signing.
“Although Liverpool are yet to receive a bid, the interest has been registered, and the wheels are in motion at Al Hilal’s end.”
