Serie A giants Napoli were one of the top contenders to sign him.

Antonio Conte’s side reportedly held talks with the Merseyside club for Nunez.

However, the deal didn’t go through — Liverpool’s asking price might have been a reason behind Napoli backing off.

As August begins, Saudi giants Al-Hilal are now pushing hard for the player, and Darwin Nunez could be ready to move to Saudi Arabia.

Ben Jacobs reported that Simone Inzaghi’s side are currently focusing on agreeing personal terms with the player’s camp before making a formal bid to Liverpool.

Liverpool’s asking price is reportedly close to €70 million — the same figure Al-Nassr offered back in January for the Uruguayan striker.

If the deal goes through, the Reds might use the funds to launch another move for Alexander Isak.

However, for now, Darwin Nunez continues to train normally ahead of Liverpool’s friendly against Athletic Bilbao on Monday.
