Alan Shearer has tipped Liverpool and Manchester City's new strikers, Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland, to hit the ground running in the Premier League.

Nunez and Haaland were two of the most wanted players in world football after their exploits in recent seasons and both will be playing in the English top-flight next season following big money moves.

Uruguayan Nunez has moved to Anfield from Benfica in a deal that could rise to a club-record £85million, having also been linked to Manchester United in recent months, while Haaland has gone from Borussia Dortmund to the Etihad after City triggered the £51m release clause in the Norwegian's contract.

Given their ages, prolific form and the quality of the sides they're going to be playing for, some believe that both players could go onto do the unthinkable and break Shearer's long-standing record of 260 Premier League goals.

Nunez meanwhile gained widespread recognition last season after scoring 34 goals in 41 games for Benfica, including two goals against his future club in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
