Liverpool still have work to do as transfer deadline day looms.

On paper, Liverpool have started the season perfectly, winning both of their opening games of the new Premier League season.

However, wining by score lines of 4-2 and 3-2 represents the current lack of solidity within the Liverpool team, as the new signings continue their integration process.

It has been a summer of immense change for Liverpool and a decrease in fluidity was expected.

With that being said, Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Premier League proven centre back Marc Guehi, who would be an excellent addition to the side after a shaky start to the new campaign for Ibrahima Konate.

Whilst it is a priority to strengthen the backline as the season really gets underway, it is also the offensive department that needs investing in, after the permanent departures of Ben Doak, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez leave the Reds significantly weaker up top than they were last season.

Liverpool also lost Diogo Jota in tragic circumstances after the Portuguese forward passed away this summer in a road accident.

Alexander Isak is of course the main man connected to Liverpool at the minute, as Newcastle United’s star striker continues to push for a move to Anfield.

Lots still to do for Liverpool to get both deals over the line, and it is very much still a matter of ‘if’ and not ‘when’ they can sign the pair.

In such a competitive league like the Premier League, continued investment in the squad is vital, and Alan Shearer has delivered a title prediction for Liverpool if the Reds can secure the signing of Marc Guehi and Alexander Isak.

Speaking about Liverpool, the Newcastle legend said: “Ekitike has made a wonderful start, certainly better than even he would have imagined.”

“He’s got three in three, I’ve been really impressed with him, but it remains to be seen how regular he will play if they get the player they want in Alexander Isak

They might shift him to another position, but you can’t argue with his record to date.”

“Liverpool need another centre-half, Marc Guehi springs to mind but because of departures and also tragic circumstances, they need another forward as well.”

“From a selfish point of view that wouldn’t be Isak, but I understand why they’re looking at him because he’s good.”

“If they land Guehi and Isak, I guess it might be over for everyone.”
