Liverpool do not look finished in the summer transfer window despite signing Florian Wirtz for a club record fee.
The Reds finally secured the addition of Wirtz on Friday, with the German likely to be the biggest signing in the Premier League this summer.
However, as Liverpool search for a new number nine, suggestions that they could break their own record again have been growing a little louder.
It is no secret that Liverpool are enormous fans of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, and the Swede is the Reds’ dream signing at centre-forward.
However, buying Isak is complicated this summer, with Newcastle unwilling to let him leave.
Earlier this week, suggestions emerged that it could take up to £200m to buy Isak this summer.
As perhaps the world’s most famous Newcastle fan, Alan Shearer is desperate to see the 25-year-old stay at St James’ Park.
And the Toon legend has not reacted kindly to fellow pundit Gary Lineker suggesting he may move to Anfield instead.

While Liverpool search for a new striker this summer, it is easy to see why Isak is attractive to them.
The Sweden international is one of the best around.
Bringing him in to play alongside Wirtz would be unbelievable for Liverpool, and while chatting on The Rest Is Football, that’s exactly what Lineker suggested the Reds are trying to do.

First, though, the former England striker asked Shearer to explain where he thinks Arne Slot is planning to deploy Wirtz.
“Where do you think Wirtz will play?” Lineker posed.
Charming!
Fortunately for Shearer, it does seem increasingly likely that Liverpool will have to look elsewhere to sort out their No.
If there is any chance he is available, it’s clear Liverpool are going to try.
In the meantime, though, the Reds would be wise to sound out some other targets as well.
Sources have indicated to Rousing The Kop that this is exactly what Liverpool are doing, with Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres still very much in the picture at Anfield.
Until someone else is signed, or Isak commits his future to Newcastle, however, Shearer is likely going to have to put up with more chatter that his beloved striker could leave.
