Premier League icon Alan Shearer believes Liverpool's current form is a worry for the top-flight as he tipped Arne Slot's side to beat Everton.

The Reds are looking to make it four wins from four in the Premier League but face a Blues side that has enjoyed an impressive start to the season.

The focus in recent weeks has been on the spending in L4, as well as the performances from the reigning champions, who have made a habit of scoring late in games.

Virgil van Dijk powered a 92nd-minute header home in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid days after Mohamed Salah converted from the spot in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time at Turf Moor.

Big-money signings Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz are yet to show their capabilities in a Liverpool shirt for varying reasons; although Wirtz's showing against Diego Simeone's side in midweek was one of his best since his switch from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

Everton have suffered just one defeat, coming on the opening weekend away at Leeds United, but since then have picked up wins over Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolves before they were held to a goalless draw at home to Aston Villa last time out.

But the history books are not on Moyes' side, as he has failed to win in all of his 22 attempts at Anfield with multiple clubs, while Everton are yet to win in front of a crowd away at Liverpool in the 21st century, after their 2021 triumph behind closed doors.

And speaking to Betfair, Shearer said: "The Merseyside derby is a great derby.

They've not played well at all yet this season in the league, but they've won four from four games which has to be a worrying sign for the rest of the league.

"I guess Liverpool are still trying to figure out a system that works for everyone going forward.

That must be a positive.

"Tough one to call but Liverpool at Anfield, won four from four in the league without playing well and Isak made his debut on Wednesday in the Champions League, so I'll go for a home win."
