Alejandro Garnacho backed to agree '£80m' transfer from Chelsea almost immediately

Alejandro Garnacho has been tipped to excel at Chelsea before agreeing a blockbuster transfer.

The Argentine winger secured his Manchester United departure after a summer of rumours and speculation about his future.

Garnacho fell out with Amorim after being benched for United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham, which eventually led to his Old Trafford exit.

During Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday (30 August), the 22-year-old was spotted in the stands, before the transfer was confirmed later that day.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Garnacho is going to be a “superstar” for Enzo Maresca’s side.

This article contains exclusive comment from Keith Wyness, former Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen CEO.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Chelsea have sealed another great deal, amid their “fantastic” window in terms of finances.

Man United originally wanted to sell their winger for £50million, but in the end, only received £40m from the Blues.

Wyness added that Garnacho could be worth up to £80m by next summer, such is his quality.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think that he’s going to turn out to be a superstar at Chelsea and I think that he’ll do well.

“£40 million is all profit for United, so they’ve done okay on the balance sheet with that.

“Look, he’s a talent and I think he’s going to do well in the Chelsea set up.

So I think Chelsea have stolen one again.

So I expect that to be good business for Chelsea and they’ve had a fantastic window in terms of finances as well.

So full kudos to them on that one.”

Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling’s options to leave Chelsea are reportedly dwindling after failing to secure a deadline-day exit.

That is the view of football finance expert Dan Plumley, who claims that the England international would be handsomely compensated if he ends up moving to the Saudi Pro League to the Super Lig.

Sterling had been linked with both West Ham and Fulham, and was keen to remain in London this summer.

The Whites enquired about his availability on deadline day, but Fulham ultimately pushed through a deal to sign Kevin and brought in Samuel Chukwueze on loan from AC Milan instead.
