Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be back in English football soon – and not in the way many fans might have expected.
After a long spell abroad, the former Liverpool midfielder is reportedly being lined up for a return to the Championship.
It’s a big shift for a player who once stood at the top of English and European football.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was part of one of the most dominant sides in Premier League history.
He played a role in a team that swept every trophy possible under a charismatic German manager.
He scored big goals, had injury setbacks, and always found his way back into the squad.
Those Liverpool years were not just about success — they shaped his career.
But things changed.
He moved abroad, trying something new, and found himself in an unpredictable environment.
One where managers didn’t last long, and where form came and went.
Now, after some ups and downs, he may be heading back to where it all started — the English Football League.
According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Leicester City have made an approach for Oxlade-Chamberlain following their relegation to the Championship.
The report stated, “English team Leicester City has made an offer for Alex Oxlade -Chamberlain, whose ticket was cut by Solskjaer at Be?ikta? and whose management wanted to let go due to his annual salary.”
The former Liverpool man is seen as a key leadership option as the club prepares for life outside the Premier League.
His time in Turkey with Besiktas has been chaotic.
In just two seasons, he played under nine managers.
None of them lasted more than 20 games.
Despite the chaos, he won the Turkish Cup in his first season and helped the team secure a spot in Europe.
But he never played in the Europa League.
He eventually got back into the team in December after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over.
He made 20 appearances before missing the last three games of the season with a knee injury.
Despite his return, Turkish reports say Besiktas want him off the wage bill?
He earns £2.2 million annually.
The report said Besiktas “will make things easier” if Oxlade-Chamberlain agrees to join Leicester.
If this deal goes through, it won’t just be a transfer.
It’ll be a full-circle moment for a player who made his senior debut in England 15 years ago.
