Former Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is now a free agent after his contract with a club was terminated.
Oxlade-Chamberlain joined the Reds in the summer of 2017 from Arsenal, helping them win the Premier League title in 2020, but was hampered by injuries at Anfield.
The former Southampton and Arsenal player made 13 appearances in his final season at the club.
The 31-year-old, who sustained two serious knee injuries in his time at Liverpool, played 146 games and scored 18 goals for the Premier League champions.
Oxlade-Chamberlain also won the Champions League (2019), FIFA Club World Cup (2019), FA Cup (2022), League Cup (2022), and UEFA Super Cup (2019) during his time at the club.
He joined Turkish side Besiktas following his release by Liverpool at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has 35 England caps but last played for his country in 2019, penned a three-year deal with the Istanbul club.
The midfielder was hampered by injuries during his first season in Turkey, and was frozen out by then manager Giovanni van Bronkhorst at the start of the 2024/25 campaign.
After the Dutchman’s sacking, he eventually worked his way back into the side, racking up 50 appearances and scoring five goals for Besiktas.
According to Yeni Safak, Besiktas have terminated Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract, and he is now a free agent.
He was told he would not be part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans ahead of next season.
Besiktas paid £1.2million in order to release the former England international.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is attracting interest from several clubs, including newly-promoted Leeds United.
It is reported that the midfielder would be in favour of a return to England?
Earlier this summer, he had been linked with a move to Leicester City.
