Alexander Isak to Liverpool continues to be the story of the summer.

Liverpool’s dream of signing the Swedish striker appears to become more of a reality every day as significant updates arrive that show the club are edging closer to striking a deal for him.

It seemed inevitable that Liverpool would be linked to Isak once again this summer, as the Reds are long-term admirers.

Enquiries were made, as the club continued to float the idea over to Newcastle that they have an ambitious plan to steal their star man off them.

However, Newcastle were not budging, as they did not want to sell Alexander Isak, but a change of mind on the player’s side has blown the situation wide open.

The 25-year-old has expressed his desire to leave Newcastle this summer, a sign of huge encouragement for Liverpool who could now accelerate a deal for him.

Isak had become increasingly frustrated over his club’s ambitions, and the situation has been made worse by Newcastle’s lack of transfer activity during this window.

Isak wants to be competing at the highest level and for the biggest trophies, and Newcastle are yet to build a team to do that.

His preference is clear, he wants to remain in Europe and compete for the biggest trophies in football and he feels as if he can do that with Liverpool.

Only time will tell if Liverpool can get their man in a deal that is sure to become a British transfer record.
