Speaking to Saudi Arabian newspaper Arriyadiyah, Gaitán said, “We are already studying and analyzing all options, and we may be close to finalizing the next step for the player, without revealing further details about Isak’s transfer or his stay with the Magpies.”

He didn’t reveal whether that next step means staying at Newcastle or moving elsewhere.

But the message is clear; Isak’s camp is weighing things up, and things could move quickly.

Back in England, reports say Newcastle have already made their stance known to Liverpool.

The club told the Reds that Isak is not for sale.

However, if a deal were to happen, it would cost no less than £150 million.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe also tried to calm things down, saying he is confident that Isak will stay this summer.
