Newcastle United and Manchester City strikers Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland are among the Premier League stars to have paid tribute to Liverpool star Diogo Jota following his tragic death on Thursday morning.
Following the news of the siblings' deaths, Liverpool FC released the following statement: "Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.
"The club have been informed the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, Andre.
Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and request the privacy of Diogo and Andre’s family, friends, teammates and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss."
Jota's passing has hit the Premier League hard with a number of rival players sending their condolences to the Portuguese star's family.
Posting on Instagram, Isak wrote: "Sad day for the football world.
"Rest in peace Diogo and Andre." Haaland added: "RIP Diogo, way too early."
Manchester United captain and Jota's international teammate Bruno Fernandes posted a moving tribute on his Instagram, writing: "Friend, colleague and companion of a thousand battles.
My condolences to all your family."
