Alexander Isak has been ordered to train alone by Newcastle United, casting further doubt on his future at the club.
Isak has told the Magpies he wants to leave this summer, with Liverpool his preferred destination.
Newcastle rejected a £110m bid from the Reds last Friday and made it clear they have no interest in negotiating.
Isak, who missed the club’s pre-season tour and a friendly against Celtic due to a reported thigh issue, later travelled to Spain to train at former club Real Sociedad’s facilities.
He has now returned to the UK but remains sidelined from the main group after receiving a warning from Eddie Howe.
“He’s like any other player, we would expect him to come in and train as normal,” Howe said after his side’s friendly with Tottenham Hotspur in South Korea.
“There is also another way to look at this.
You have to earn the right to train with us.
We’re Newcastle United.
“The player has a responsibility here to be part of a team and part of a squad – you have to act in the right way.
So that is also at play here.
“We will make sure that any player does that to earn the right to train with the group?
No player can expect to act poorly and train with the group as normal.”
According to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Isak has arrived at the Newcastle training ground to train and recover away from the rest of the squad as instructed by Eddie Howe.
He arrived just as the rest of the squad were leaving, following the “team bonding family day” at the club’s training ground.
All players and their families were invited, except for the Sweden international.
Eddie Howe is expected to hold talks with Isak, who wants to leave the club this summer.
