It brought to an end a transfer saga that had dominated headlines all summer-long.
A conclusion that was expected and relaxed the minds of all parties connected to the situation.
The Swedish striker had communicated to head coach Eddie Howe before the end of last season that he wished to explore a move away from the club.
But, as time went on and Newcastle United failed to ramp up efforts to find a replacement for Alexander Isak, the forward began to become increasingly frustrated.
He viewed his relationship with the club as broken and made the drastic decision to go on strike and push through a move away.
Alexander Isak did not take part in Newcastle United’s pre-season schedule, and Dan Burn revealed that it did have an effect on the players.
However, the Magpies defender has also now revealed the last message Alexander Isak sent into the team’s WhatsApp group before departing to Merseyside.
Speaking whilst on international duty with England, Dan Burn said:
“It’s only natural, Alex is probably one of the best three strikers in the world at the moment, and as a Newcastle fan personally, obviously, you’d love him to want to stay.”
“But I know it’s football and there’s players who’ve come and gone from Newcastle before.”
“Alex is my mate at the end of the day, so it was a tough situation, but I’m glad that we’re getting a good return on a player tat we’ve had and he’s getting the move that he wanted.”
“He put a message in the chat just saying that he was leaving and thanks for the memories, all that sort of stuff, and the lads replied.”
“I think Alex is getting what he wants and now we’ve just got to focus and do what we can with the players that we’ve got.”
No bad blood between the players and the departing Alexander Isak then, as he prioritised the development of his career.
