Alexander Isak has sent out a statement to Newcastle supporters after he ended his transfer saga by joining Premier League rivals Liverpool.

Isak has refused to play for the club this season, and Liverpool’s original £110million offer for the striker was rejected as Newcastle insisted he was not for sale.

Liverpool agreed a £125m deal for Isak with Newcastle on deadline day to end the summer long saga.

Isak is currently linking up with the Sweden squad on international duty with his Liverpool debut in the pipeline to be against Burnley on September 14th.

Isak has spoken to Newcastle fans for the first time since his explosive statement saying “promises were broken and trust is lost,” towards the club.

Now he has signed for Liverpool, Isak has broken his silence again by sending a message of thanks to Newcastle on social media [2 September].

“I want to express my gratitude to my teammates, the staff, and above all, the city of Newcastle and all the amazing supporters for the three unforgettable years we shared together, Isak said.

Isak’s message to the Newcastle fans will do little of distinguish the anger currently felt towards the player, amid his refusal to train or play at the club since the beginning of pre-season.

Newcastle needed to sell Isak amid PSR concerns after they signed his replacement Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart.

Yoane Wissa has also joined from Brentford to soften the blow of Newcastle losing one of the greatest goal scorers in their history.

Isak may have tarnished his reputation with the Newcastle support, but he fired them to the League Cup back in March, there first major trophy in 56 years, and for that he should be remembered fondly.
