Alexander Isak makes disappointing Liverpool debut admission following record-breaking transfer

The 25-year-old will build up his fitness on international duty with Sweden, but has admitted he won't be firing on all cylinders in time for his Liverpool debut.

Asked if he hoped to be available to face Burnley, Isak replied: "Yeah, of course, I think that’s the ambition.

"However, I’ve had a tricky summer where I haven’t played any games and I’ve had restricted training, so I think that’s one to judge and to analyse where I am at and how much I am ready to give.

Isak has not trained at match pace all summer and his fitness will be lacking in the early weeks of the season.

As Isak himself acknowledged, it has been a "tricky summer" for the attacker.
