Liverpool could complete another blockbuster transfer this summer if they choose to explore a deal for Alexander Isak.

The 25-year-old striker - signed by Newcastle United in August 2022 for a club record £63million - netted the winner against the Reds in the League Cup final at Wembley last season to earn his club their first domestic honour in 70 years.

But long before that goal at the home of English football, the Reds have been linked with a move for the Sweden international.

Isak scored 23 times in the Premier League last season and has also been linked with a move to Barcelona.

However, links with the Reds, who have already spent over £200million this summer, remain, and below we have taken a look at the latest rumours involving the Anfield club.

Elliott 'very high Newcastle's radar'

According to TBR Football, Reds midfielder Harvey Elliott is 'very high' on Newcastle's radar as they reportedly redraw their summer transfer plans.

Eddie Howe looks to have suffered rejection from top targets Bryan Mbeumo and Joao Pedro in recent weeks

Meanwhile Elliott has said plenty about his future while putting in a player-of-the-tournament display to help his England side win the Under-21 European Championship.

In desperate need of attacking inspiration, the 22-year-old's goals and assists are believed to have caught the eye of Liverpool's Premier League rivals.

Striker 'shortlist'

Florian Plettenberg, from Sky Sports Germany, is reporting that Isak is on a three-man striker shortlist.

Others named are Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike.

It is said 'thorough checks' have been conducted on all three, but in Ekitike's case, further insight is given that he understands he may have to wait patiently to move until Liverpool have made relevant player sales to free up space.
