Florian Wirtz shared a message with Liverpool supporters after his team defeated Burnley 1-0 on Sunday.

Mohamed Salah’s 95th-minute penalty ensured that Liverpool successfully beat Burnley to earn their fourth successive Premier League win.

The Anfield giants went three points clear of second-place Arsenal and are the only side to boast a 100 per cent winning record in the top flight this term.

Arne Slot showed his ruthless side in Liverpool’s win over Burnley by subbing off Milos Kerkez before the half-time break.

Meanwhile, following Liverpool’s triumph over Burnley, Wirtz wrote on Instagram on 14 September: “We’re taking three points home.

Thanks for your energy.”

The 22-year-old’s message attracted a like from Isak, who was omitted from Liverpool’s squad at Turf Moor.

Amid an extremely busy summer transfer window at Anfield, one of Slot’s most high-profile additions was that of attacking midfielder Wirtz.

The Germany international notched an impressive haul of 16 goals and 14 assists across all competitions for his former club, Bayer Leverkusen, last season.

However, Wirtz has not made a goal contribution for Liverpool since producing an assist in their Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace last month.

There is no doubt that the 22-year-old has the quality to excel in the Premier League, but Slot will need his new man to produce the goods sooner rather than later.

The Reds have lacked their usual attacking prowess in their successive 1-0 wins over Arsenal and Liverpool, which is partly down to Wirtz failing to produce goals and assists.

He has a major opportunity to prove his worth when Liverpool face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday, 17 September.

Meanwhile, football commentator Ian Darke has outlined what the season could have in store for Rio Ngumoha in a Liverpool News 247 exclusive.
