The Alexander Isak to Liverpool saga has been taking the football world by storm.

Liverpool are long-term admirers of the Swede, admiration that has only grown since he arrived in the Premier League three years ago.

Despite Liverpool breaking the £300m barrier so far in this window, they are very much not done there, as they look to set unprecedented spending records within English football history.

They are now pushing for the signing of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, with Newcastle set to demand a British record fee.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has been very open in addressing the rumours linking his player to Liverpool, with him saying in a recent interview:

“”Of course there are things going on behind the scenes.

Conversations that happen between Alex and myself and Alex and the club will stay private.”

He then also confirmed that Isak has turned down the most recent contract offer presented to him by Newcastle.

“There are no contract talks taking place.”

Another positive sign for Liverpool in their pursuit of the forward.

The 25-year-old has rejected the offer, showing his clear desire to leave the club and make the switch to Merseyside.

Fabrizio Romano has now given his latest update to add fuel to the fire.

“There’s nothing ongoing between Alexander Isak and Al Hilal now.”

“Isak has already turned down Saudi options, he said no as his wish remains to play at the highest level in Europe.”

“The real club in concrete talks for Isak was, is and remains Liverpool.”

Reports surfaced over the last few days that clubs from the Saudi Pro League had expressed their desire in signing Alexander Isak as they attempted to lure him away from the Premier League.

The Guardian reported yesterday that Al Hilal had offered Alexander Isak an eye-watering £600,000 a week contract.

As Fabrizio Romano confirms, the Swede has quickly turned that down as Liverpool is his priority and the clubs are now in concrete talks.

After breaking the British transfer record on Florian Wirtz, Liverpool appear to be on the verge of breaking it within the same window.
