Liverpool have had some simply amazing strikers throughout their history.

The Reds have always been synonymous with free-flowing, attacking football, with this something that is still the case under Arne Slot.

They have often had world-class number nines, and Alexander Isak is just the next player to don this shirt, with expectations higher than ever.

There is a lot of pressure to lead the line for Liverpool, with there being simply too many good strikers to count, although Isak has the tools needed to be considered as one of the best if things go to plan.

The Swede is well aware of the names currently ahead of him on the list, though, and he thinks the best is a player they signed for just £23m – even better than Robbie Fowler.

Isak will be desperate to prove to the fans that he was worth all the hassle and money spent on him, with the price tag something that is going to take a lot of convincing.

This is especially true as Liverpool have many elite strikers in their time who have cost nowhere near that amount of money, meaning expectations are even higher than before.

In fact, one of the Reds’ best in history cost just £22.5m, with this being Luis Suarez, the striker who Isak believes is the best in the club’s history.

When asked for a TikTok video as to which striker is better, Isak originally picked Roberto Firmino over both Daniel Sturridge and Peter Crouch.

He then believes that Mane was better, until Suarez’s name came up, with the Swede picking the Uruguayan every time since.

He picked him over the likes of Fernando Torres, Michael Owen and Fowler, although he revealed that this was mainly because he was able to watch Suarez more when growing up.

Suarez scored 82 goals and registered 32 assists in 133 games for the Reds, meaning that Isak has a very long way to go if he is ever to surpass the Uruguayan’s legacy.

The Reds have had some elite strikers across different years, but not many of them have been part of the same team together.

The last striker partnership they had was Sturridge and Suarez, the rebranded version of the SAS that was previously Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton during their time at Blackburn in the 1994/95 season.

But now, Liverpool have the chance to create a new one with Isak and Hugo Ekitike, although Slot would need to change formation first.

The Frenchman has been so impressive that he feels rather undroppable, meaning they may have to play together at some point, something that could be the start of a special connection.
