Earlier today Newcastle submitted a bid for Benjamin Sesko of RB Lepizig.

The Slovenian striker has been approached by Manchester United as well, but Newcastle are the first of the dup to submit a formal offer for the player.

Newcastle will be more willing to sell Isak if a suitable replacement is lined up and as a result their bid for Sesko could pave the way for Isak’s move to Liverpool.

As reported earlier by Keith Downie of Sky Sports, Alexander Isak is set to return to the UK today following his solo training camp in Spain.

David Ornstein has now provided further clarity on the situation, as he has revealed that Alexander Isak is set to return to Newcastle training.

Liverpool’s interest in the striker is ongoing, despite their first offer being rejected.

It remains to be seen what that could mean for any potential departure, but you feel as if too many bridges have been burnt.

It still remains unlikely that will see Alexander Isak in a Newcastle shirt next season, but the decision to return to training increases uncertainty about his future.
