Liverpool supporters will be keen to see Alexander Isak in action as soon as possible following his deadline day switch to the club.

However, the £125million signing from Newcastle has raised questions about when he'll be ready to make his debut for the Reds.

Isak, 25, finally secured a move to Anfield after a transfer saga that took up much of the summer.

With it will likely come Isak's first appearance for Liverpool - but only if he is considered match fit.

After a summer that saw Isak effectively go on strike at Newcastle, missing pre-season and the start of the 2025/2026 campaign, he is naturally far from being in peak condition.

Although Isak has trained alone, and even spent some time training at former club Real Sociedad over the summer, Liverpool's new No.

9 has admitted he will have to wait and see when he can make his debut for the club.

"Yeah, of course," Isak responded when asked by club media if he's aiming for Liverpool's game against Burnley on 14 September to be his first appearance in a red shirt.

However, hinting at a possible delay to his debut, he said: "I think that's the ambition.

If he's not deemed fit enough to face Burnley upon his return, Isak could make his first appearance in either of two high-profile clashes for Liverpool.

He could feature for the Reds on Wednesday, September 17 in a match that will see Arne Slot's team take on their first Champions League fixture of the season with a league phase match against Atletico Madrid at Anfield.

Isak also has the chance to make an exciting home Premier League debut for Liverpool against local rivals Everton on Saturday, September 20.

However, Isak's transfer looks to have destroyed his relationship with his previous club, with Newcastle offering a short and terse statement upon Isak leaving.

The 25-year-old confessed that finally completing his switch to the Premier League champions has brought him considerable relief, and he's now eager to step onto the pitch at the earliest opportunity.

"It's mixed emotions – some relief but a lot of pride, happiness," he added.
