Luis Diaz's impending transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich appears to have scuppered any potential swap deal involving Alexander Isak.

The Reds explored the possibility of signing Isak before they wrapped up a move for Ekitike, but they are still being linked with a move for the Swede.

However, Diaz's departure may have quashed any slim chance of Newcastle proposing a swap deal involving Darwin Nunez for Isak.



Recent reports from German publication Bild suggested that the Magpies were contemplating a move for Nunez after the Reds outmanoeuvred them to secure Ekitike's signature.

The arrival of the Frenchman seems to have nudged Nunez out of Slot's preferred starting line-up.

With Newcastle in the market for a striker and Isak seemingly keen on a move, a potential swap deal involving the Swedish international and the ex-Benfica star seemed plausible.

However, with Diaz now set to leave Anfield, any slim hopes of such a deal materialising appear to be dashed.

Newcastle have set their sights on RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, who is reportedly valued between £60m and £70m.

The young Slovenian was previously linked with Arsenal, but the Gunners have since opted to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon instead.

Despite this, Liverpool are still reportedly interested in Isak, who is said to have a hefty price tag of up to £150m.

The Reds shattered the Premier League transfer record to secure Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for a whopping £116m, but if they have their sights set on Isak, they will need to exceed that amount.
